Jean-Daniel was born in 1932 in Switzerland. He migrated to Australia in 1989 to be with his only daughter. We had to find him a hobby for his retirement which was a bit of a problem as he had never even hammered a nail in before in his entire life. Under the guidance of his daughter Chantal, an artist herself, he started making furniture covered in wooden mosaics but this proved too noisy for his neighbours as it meant using a power sander most of the day. We had to find him another way to create so It's then that he started making mosaics out of tiles. Soon this became a passion and in time he made lots of different pieces of naive type art, from simple pavings squares to animals, temples and much more. He his very passionate about nature and you will see a lot of birds in his creations. He walks his dog every morning along the Cooks River in Sydney admiring nature. His hobby soon became a busy daily routine, so do please have a look at a few pieces from his collection of creations. Enjoy your visit........ |
